Why was Realities360 Conference & Expo canceled?

For more than 20 years, the Learning Guild has hosted events like Realities360 that bring people together to connect, share, and grow. While we have at times encountered environmental challenges that create hurdles in the path towards that goal, our team has always found a way to overcome them so that we continue to meet and exceed the expectations our community has for our events, and the commitment we have to you. Our intention has been to host the conference, but that goal has shifted in recent weeks.

It’s not just that COVID-19 has rapidly spread and is now a pandemic; it’s the growing call to “flatten the curve” and slow the rate of the virus’s spread so that healthcare systems around the globe can better support those affected. 

Our guiding principle at the Learning Guild is “Together We Are Better”. It shapes every decision we make, including this one. In this context, we’re not just talking about the Guild Community; we’re talking about everyone on this planet, as a global community, working together to flatten the curve. If we all do our part, we can literally save lives.

For us at the Learning Guild “doing our part” means making the difficult decision to cancel the event. 

Will 2020 Realities360 Conference & Expo be rescheduled?

No. We considered postponing to a future date, but given the uncertainty COVID-19 has created, have elected not to do so. We look forward to hosting next year’s Realities360 Conference & Expo March 30 - April 2, 2021, as scheduled.

Will Realities360 Conference & Expo be held in a virtual format?

We are exploring opportunities to make much of the content that was going to be shared at the conference available virtually. Additional information will be shared over the coming weeks.

What are the options for my Realities360 Conference & Expo registration now that the event is canceled?

We have a number of options that attendees can choose from. Most of the people we have already had contact with have chosen to receive a credit for another event in the future, often driven by the challenges of getting financial approval to attend and wanting to avoid going through the entire process again. 

If you would like to apply your 2020 Realities360 Conference registration to a future event, you can choose from any of the following four options: 

  • DevLearn 2020 Conference & Expo, October 21 – 23, 2020, at the Mirage Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas, NV

  • Learning 2020 Conference, November 13 – 15, 2020, at Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort in Orlando, FL (Now produced by The Learning Guild)

  • Learning Solutions 2021 Conference & Expo, March 30 – April 1, 2021, at the Rosen Shingle Creek Resort in Orlando, FL

  • Simply choose a credit for now, and select the specific event you would like to attend in the next 12 months at a later date.

I also registered for a pre-conference workshop or other co-located event; what options do I have for that registration now that the event is canceled?

The ability to transfer your conference registration to another event as described above also extends to any pre-conference workshop or co-located event registrations.

How do I cancel my hotel reservation?

If you reserved your room at the Rosen Centre Hotel through the Learning Guild’s room block, your room reservation will automatically be canceled. However, we recommend that everyone contact the hotel they made a reservation directly and cancel, just in case you booked outside of our block without realizing it.

How can I get reimbursed for travel expenses?

Unfortunately, The Learning Guild cannot reimburse travel expenses. Please contact the airline, train service, etc. directly to inquire about reimbursement.

I’m an exhibitor and/or sponsor. What is the next step for me?

Exhibitors and sponsors will be contacted directly regarding their engagement with the event. If you have not been contacted or have additional questions, please contact Lenore Higgins at lhiggins@LearningGuild.com.

I joined The Learning Guild when registering for the Conference & Expo to take advantage of the member rate for registration. Is my membership still valid?

Yes. Your free membership with the Guild is still valid and we encourage you to take full advantage of your year-round member benefits.
